„Das das schönste Kino von Graz das NonStop Kino ist, weiß kaum jemand“ (Krone 19.09.2010). Jetzt wissen es bald alle Grazer, und nicht nur Leute in aller Welt: Das Kino wurde vom Bundesdenkmalamt unter Schutz gestellt!
Nun findet am Sonntag 26.09.2010 Beginn 11 Uhr in Kooperation mit dem Bundesdenkmalamt der Tag des Denkmals im NonStop Kino statt. Zugleich das Abschiedsfest für den bisherigen Betrieb des Kinos. Also bitte alle kommen. Geboten werden Wochenschauen der 60er Jahre, interessante Videoclips verschiedener Musikrichtungen, Eastern, Trickfilm, Anime, Sex und Experimentalfilm. Getränke und Musik im Foyer. Es wird ein sentimentaler Rückblick - ein typischer NonStop-Betrieb eben. Wenn wir mit dem Programm durch sind, fangen wir wieder von vorne an! Open end!

„Only a very few seem to know the NonStop Kino is the most beautiful movie theater in Graz“ (Krone newspaper,19/09/2010) All people in Graz may know by now, not only people all over the world: It has been declared an official monument, worth being protected by the government!
Now Sunday 26/09/2010 opening 11 a.m. in cooperation with the Monument Office of Austria the official Monument Day is celebrated in the NonStop. Its also the farewell party for the outgoing operating team. So please do come! There will be newsreels of the Sixties, interesting videoclips of different music styles, Eastern, cartoon, Anime, Sex and experiments. Drinks and music as usual. It will be a sentimental journey - a typical NonStop running action: As soon as the schedule is through, we just start from the beginning. Open end!

Als das NonStop Kino 1956/57 von meinem Vater gegründet wurde, galt es als hypermodern. Inzwischen hat sich die Zeit verändert, das NonStop blieb wie es war, was es war - ein Kino und wurde durch erweitertes Programm mit multimedialen Experimenten und dem Schwerpunkt Film & Musik selbst zum Kunstwerk. Nun sperrt es im Originalzustand zu.
Ein durchaus plötzliches und rechtlich unanfechtbares Urteil des Obersten Gerichthofs der Republik Österreich gab dem neuen Besitzer ÖBB durch eine Revision der 2. Instanz des Landesgerichts Steiermark an die vorige von der 2. Instanz aufgehobene 1. Instanz Recht und gewährt dem NonStop im Namen der Republik nun noch 14 Tage Auszugsrecht.
Die seit über 12 Jahren vom NonStop vorgesehene Neustrukturierung samt originalgetreuer Renovierung zu eigenen Kosten, wurde von den ÖBB stets verhindert, nun fährt im Zuge der Nahverkehrsdrehscheibe Graz die Straßenbahn drunter. Obwohl es bereits zwischen der Stadt Graz (Nahverkehrsdrehscheibe) und dem NonStop nach klaren Verhandlungen zu einer Vereinbarung zur Wiedererrichtung des Kinos im Status Quo mit Unterschutzstellung des Ortes als Bundesdenkmal, und die Fortführung und Weiterentwicklung der multimedialen Konzepte gekommen war, soll jetzt nichts mehr stattfinden.
Auch nicht der von den ÖBB hauptgesponserte Tag des Bundesdenkmals am 26. September 2010 im NonStop Kino Graz? Am 23. muss das Kino geräumt sein!

Es mag euch zu geil sein, zu cool oder zu heiß. Versteckt euch zu hause, die straßen bleiben leer.
Keine feiern, keine premieren, pete doherty kennt ihr schon, doch nur von billigglanzzeitschriften, nur was mit drogen, ohne musik. Das der einen film macht? und auch noch zeigt! in einem pornokino! - finden sie in london cool. Ihr sagt mir ein kino bleibt kino, und spiel was du willst. Zur wochenschau gings in den 60ern, dann bud spencer und terence hill und sogar bruce lee. Doch Porno war das beste Geschäft. Auch wenn angeblich keiner dort war, die ÖBB jahrelang alles andere verhinderten.
Das Viertel verfällt, das Kino sei schuld! Und Sex ist nicht artig, Kunst ist suspekt. Junge Menschen die tanzen! Schwarze in Graz! Alles zu viel!
Das Annenviertel ein Nonnenviertel! Das muss her! Kino ist raus, Feiern nimmermehr.

The NonStop cinema in the railway station Graz, founded 54 years ago by Walter Haslacher, father of the current operator Bettina Aichbauer, is to be handed over to the „Österreichischen Bundesbahnen“ (ÖBB, Austrian State Railways), its landlord till now. After years of hindering all efforts to evolve from a mere porn movie theater to multimedia, in spite of existing agreements with the City of Graz concerning reerection true to original and continuation of the location, in spite of running proceedings to name the location as officially „protected building of historic interest“ the famously cultur- and client-friendly ÖBB have finally achieved a surprisingly fast and untouchable sentence by the Highest Court of Austria.
At the time the NonStop was established by my father Walter Haslacher 1956/57, it was known as hypermodern venue. As time has passed, the NonStop stayed as it ever was - a cinema, and with new concepts it became a place of communication for art and music and people, even a piece of art itself. Now it is to be closed.
A very sudden and legally unimpeachable sentence by the Highest Court in Austria finally proved the new owner ÖBB (Austrian Railways) right by revision of the first sentence of the regional court and allows the NonStop to move out of the railway station within 14 days in the name of the State.
New structures, including renovation on NonStop own account, had been hindered by the ÖBB since 12 years. Now the projected local traffic hub for trams can undermine the cinema. Even after clear discussions between City of Graz (concerning the hub) and NonStop an agreement was settled to reerect the movie theater true to original and to continue the multimedia concepts due to its new state as to be officially protected as building of historic interest (Denkmalschutz) now the future of the precious location is uncertain.
So where will the ceremonial opening of the „Monument Protection Day“ scheduled 09/26/2010 - sponsored mainly by the very same ÖBB - happen to be? NonStop has to clear the location by the 23rd! Anyway NonStop never stops!

They like it in London. You tell me kino is kino and screen what you like. In the sixties you went to see the newsreel, then Bud Spencer and Terence Hill and even Bruce Lee. But porn was a bargain. Though nobody ever had been there. And the Railway Company banned everything else.
The quarter running down, the movie theater‘s to blame. Sex is not good and proper, art is suspect. Young people dancing! Black people in Graz! All too much!
Annstreet is nunstreet! Thats what we need. Kino is out, celebration is never!
